Campus Construction Update: April 30–May 6

Please note: During the next 4-6 weeks, the HSSC main entrance on the north side (#1) will be closed due to plumbing underground, and the south HSSC gate (#3) will be the “new” main entry. All major work activity at the Humanities and Social Studies Complex (HSSC) and the Admission and Financial Aid (AFA) building is included below. Abbreviation key: SOG — slab on grade; SOD — slab on deck; MEP — mechanical, electrical, and plumbing; FF — finished floor; HM — hollow metal; OH — overhead; AHU — air handling unit; any reference to “pour” refers to pouring concrete; CMU — concrete masonry unit.

  • Basement equipment install MEP
  • Hang drywall – 2nd floor south pavilion/stairwells
  • Drywall finish – 1st and 2nd floors, south pavilion
  • Paint – south pavilion, 1st floor
  • Wall rough-in/backing/framing – 1st floor, north pavilion
  • Overhead MEP – 2nd and 3rd floors, south and north pavilions
  • Door frames – north pavilion
  • Atrium – scaffold extension
  • Atrium – roof drains
  • Interior wall framing – 3rd floor, south and north pavilions
  • Framing – atrium roof soffit
  • Curtainwall – atrium, east elevation glass
  • Curtainwall – NW north pavilion glass
  • Brick veneer – NE elevation, north pavilion
  • Steel detailing – atrium
  • Elevator – E301, south pavilion
  • Metal panel field – south pavilion
  • Underground Piping – north pavilion, north side

AFA: Major activity week of April 30

  • Start of 1st floor sheetrock, grids 3-9
  • Complete wall inspections, grid 10-19
  • Start fireplace stone, exterior side
  • HVAC site utilities, near completion
  • Start aluminum extrusions, east side
  • Complete 2nd floor rough-ins
  • Complete wall framing, room 102
  • Install last large window in waiting room 102
  • Complete wood ceiling, waiting room
